Insight Synthesis

After a round of research, teams turn raw notes, quotes and recordings into shared findings so the work actually influences decisions. A common approach is affinity diagramming: each person writes observations on sticky notes, keeping one note per observation and recording what they saw or heard rather than what they think it means. The team then sorts the notes into labelled clusters or themes, names the groups, and works through each to agree short insight statements, before prioritising which findings to act on and documenting the result for the wider team. Use it after interviews, usability sessions or any research that produces a lot of data, and even with disorganised data gathered over time, to align the team and surface patterns no single researcher saw.
